Chapter 1: Grow Up!

Lila sat down at the lunch table with her friends, Melissa, Amy, Cherie, and Gina. They were deep in conversation about Will and his broken leg. Again. Lila was really getting sick of talking about Will. Besides, Melissa wasn't even with Will anymore. Well, she was sort of, but she was also with Ken. Lila sighed. Her friends were very complicated.
She glanced around the caf, looking for Josh. It's not like she was dating him, but he could be fun to go out on dates with. He at least appreciated her super stylish clothes and her money. But then, just about everyone appreciated her money. Lila found herself staring straight at Jessica's table. She was sitting there with Liz, Maria, that Tia girl, and that guy, Andy. Jessica had really sunk low on the friendship scale. Jess was laughing and it could be heard clearly across the cafeteria. In their time, Jess never would have associated with Maria and Liz, let alone laughed so happily. Lila sighed unhappily. It sure seemed like Jessica was having a lot more fun with her friends than Lila was having talking about Will with her friends.
"Lila.... Lila? Are you with us?" Amy teased, flipping her hair behind her shoulders.
Lila blinked. Everyone was smirking at her. "What did you say Ames?"
Cherie and Amy exchanged a glance. "There's a new club opening in El Carro this weekend. It's called Breakdown. It sounds really cool. We were thinking we should hit it this Friday. There promises to be a lot of college boys there." Amy winked at her.
Lila shrugged. "Sounds cool. And we do need a new club desperately. Riot is getting pretty lame. Some of the people who go there..." Lila shivered delicately.
Melissa laughed. "You are so right Li. When people like Jessica Wakefield and her little groupies go there you know that Riot is becoming very uncool."
Lila gave a small nod in acknowledgement of Melissa's dig at Jessica. That little feud was getting so sickening. At least Jessica had moved on with her life. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Melissa.
After lunch Lila and Melissa walked to their next class together, History. Not one of Lila's favorite subjects at all.
"I am getting so sick of everything in Sweet Valley. Nothing changes. I am so bored. I think we need to do something to shake up the town Liss. What do you think?" Lila looked at Melissa, but Melissa was glaring across the hallway at Ken and Jessica standing by a group of lockers.
    "Liss? Did you hear me?"
"That girl is such a slut. It's like she can't leave my guys alone. I am so sick of her hitting on everything that moves. First Will now Ken." Melissa narrowed her eyes at Ken who was laughing with Jess.
Lila coughed to gain Melissa's attention. "Well Liss, they did go out pretty seriously for awhile last year. And they have always been good friends. Of course they are going to hang out occasionally."
"Still... Ken should have a little sympathy for me. He knows how much I hate Jessica. He needs to think about those things too. If he wants to date me, then he is going to have to learn the rules about who to associate with and who not to associate with. Right Li?" Melissa looked at her expectantly.
"Of course Melissa." She replied meekly. As they passed Ken and Jess in the hall, Jess studiously ignored them but Ken waved. Melissa turned up her snobby little nose and ignored them both.
Lila shook her head in annoyance. Sometimes Melissa could be such a little baby. She had to learn to grow up and not get so annoyed with every little thing. Look at Lila. Jessica and her were no longer talking, Jessica had replaced her with a new best friend almost immediately and life went on for Lila. She just didn't understand all this immaturity. They may be seniors, but sometimes her friends acted like two year olds who didn't know how to share.

Chapter Two:

Friday night Lila got ready to go out with her friends to the new club. She was pretty excited. Maybe now things would start becoming more exciting. One could only hope. She applied a final coat of mascara then went downstairs to wait in the foyer. Her parents were gone so she jotted down a quick note.

Mom and Dad, went out with Melissa and friends. Will be home later.
C-Ya later.
